Dec 29, 2012 -- GETTING A PUPPY FIX
FOR SALE: Lightly used Canon 5D Mark 2 body. In like new condition. $1500 plus S&H. Save $$$$ and get a beautiful full-frame camera. No, the puppies are not mine. I was visiting my friend Wendi who is a Labrador Retriever breeder. She snapped this while I was getting a puppy fix.

Oct 28, 2012 -- SYMBOLIC PINK
I cannot not participate in today's "pink" challenge. My last post was the bluejay on September 11th, the day I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I am fortunate that it was caught early, and I will be starting my radiation treatments tomorrow -- IF the storm Sandy does not make it impossible to get to the hospital.

Sept 11, 2012 -- FLEDGLING BLUE JAY
I spotted this young Blue Jay yesterday afternoon and took some photos from my dining room window. He was so quiet, I opened the window. He cocked his head but still did not move. I got a few from the window and decided to go outside and see if I could get close enough to take some shots outdoors. It was incredible! He allowed me to get very close. I ripped off a number of shots. He was in the shade, and the light was dappled which is always difficult. Eventually he flew out of the tree and landed right by my feet for a moment before hopping up to another branch where he allowed me to approach again. Again I got very close. He cocked his head at me and seemed to pose. It was one of those very special moments in the presence of wildlife.
Critiques welcomed -- Because of the dappled lighting I needed to increase the highlights and fill light a bit which did wash out some of the intensity of the color in his feathers.

Thank you for all your comments on my jigsaw puzzle -- especially liked Paul's idea of time lapse shots. Will have to keep that in mind for another puzzle.

Sept 4, 2012 -- JIGSAW
Having fun with a Laurel Burch puzzle -- 1000 pieces. Took this with my iPhone.
I don't consider myself a jigsaw person, but on a whim I bought this puzzle and am having so much fun with it. I haven't done any puzzles since my grandmother was alive and I was a teenager!
Thank you for all your comments on my rooster yesterday. He was a handsome fella -- a Barred Rock.
